Sharon Connell - Button Accordian/Concertina

 

Born and raised in County Galway, Sharon’s music skills were initiated at an early age through her exposure to traditional Irish music by her Grandfather, Jack Rabbitte. She won her first All-Ireland at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in Clonmel in 2003 and since then, her success has continued on several occasions in the All-Ireland Fleadh Competition scene. Sharon holds an honours BA degree in Irish Music and Dance and an honours Graduate Teaching Diploma(Music) from the University of Limerick. She has also completed the Comhaltas TTCT teaching diploma and has tutored at various festivals around the country, including Scoil Eigse. She adjudicates regularly at Fleadh Cheoil, Scor and Feiseanna competitions and has also performed with the Bru Boru Show in Tipperary. Sharon is a full time teacher of Irish traditional music and several of her students have followed in her footsteps and achieved All-Ireland success. She is the current chairperson of Lackagh CCE in county Galway.
