Locations & getting started.
Where GMA teaches, who we teach, and how to begin.
We teach across five locations in Galway City and County: Knocknacarra, Renmore, Claregalway, Oranmore (Calasanctius College), and Tuam. If you’d like our services in your area, let us know — we often arrange group tuition in local schools. See our locations →
From age 4 to adults — music is for everyone. We offer programmes for each stage, from complete beginners to advanced musicians preparing for performance or exams. Private lessons are ideal from around age 6–7 and up. Group lessons and pre-instrumental programmes are a better fit for young learners aged 4–6; these are available in some but not all locations, so get in touch to find out more.
Yes — most of our students start with no previous musical experience. Our teachers guide you step by step, keeping lessons fun and encouraging.

Instruments & lessons.

We offer lessons in piano, guitar, ukulele, drums, violin, voice, fiddle, banjo and more, plus our GMA Stage School for singing, dance and drama. Explore GMA Stage School →
It depends on age and interests. For young learners aged 4–6, group lessons and pre-instrumental programmes tend to be the better starting point. From age 6–7 up, private lessons open up; older beginners may prefer guitar, drums or violin. We’ll help you choose the right fit.
Private lessons are 30 minutes. Group and duo lessons run for a shared 30-minute slot, with details depending on the programme. 45- and 60-minute lessons are recommended for more advanced students.
Yes. Group learning is fun, social and motivating, and we also offer duo lessons for two students sharing a private slot. Group music classes, singing groups and GMA Stage School sessions all run across our locations.
Yes, in most cases. We’ll find the right class or teacher for you so you can settle in straight away.
You’re welcome to stay for the first few lessons if your child is young or nervous. After that, many children focus better on their own — but you can always wait nearby.

Fees & payment.
Simple pricing, one flat rate across every location.
Private lessons are €30 per 30 minutes, billed at €105/month for once-weekly or €210/month for twice-weekly. Group lessons are €15 per person, and duo lessons are €18 per person. Upfront termly payment via SEPA is also available on request.
Families set up an account through our My Music Staff system, where you can manage your account and track payments anytime. Fees are billed monthly by SEPA Direct Debit, our primary payment method. Current students →

Performance & progress.
Concerts, exams and how learning actually feels.
Definitely. We run regular concerts, recitals and community events where students can share their progress and experience the stage.
If you’d like to, yes. We prepare students for RIAM and ABRSM grades. Exams are optional.
Everyone learns at their own pace. With weekly lessons and regular practice, you’ll start noticing real progress within 3–6 months.
Absolutely. Your interest and encouragement matter most. We’ll give you simple tips so you can support your child’s learning at home.
The best time is now. We have classes for preschoolers, school-age children, teens and adults. It’s never too early or too late to start.

Cancellations & scheduling.
What happens when life gets in the way of a lesson.
Give us at least 24 hours’ notice and you’ll earn a replacement lesson, scheduled within the same term subject to teacher and school availability, capped at two per term. Under 24 hours’ notice, no replacement or credit applies.
We’ll arrange a substitute teacher or reschedule your lesson at a time that works for you.
